Joyful Day

I hope my mom was looking down from heaven Sunday to witness Riley obeying the Lord in baptism.  She was eager, excited and quoted John 3:16.  Pastor Joel said "if you want to know about the Lord, ask this little girl."  My mom would have loved it and I wish I could have shared the moment with her.  I loved sharing Riley's first time of taking communion and singing "10,000 Reasons" by Matt Redman.  It is one of our favorite songs.  It was a blessed Sunday.

We have a little motion problem here.  We have a video of it all

So.........

long time, no write.  It usually means I am not feeling up to par again; which.....is true. So I'm not going to bore you with the gory details and just say the stomach pain is back and I am taking measures to try to get it better again.  It makes for a rather erratic life-style.  Actually, I have to go just one day at a time which might be the message I am supposed to get from all of this.
Right now, I am looking out the window at the sun; it just rained buckets.  I heard the chef groan down in his man-cave watching the Tigers game. I am not a baseball fan.   Actually, he isn't the chef tonight-I am.  I made chicken packets; which is easy with a no-mess clean-up. If I don't watch the game with him, the least I could do is make dinner.
We've had a real relaxing weekend. I brought home the first season of "West Wing" from the library and we actually watched several episodes during the day yesterday which we NEVER do (I mean watch TV in the day). I have always wanted to watch "West Wing" but could never get into it because I didn't watch it from the beginning. It is really good.
We went for a walk this morning and then watched the leaves fall while in the hot tub.  Things are looking kind of bare out there.
I finished reading "Killing Lincoln" by Bill O'Reilly today.  It was so good.  I read "Killing Kennedy" last week.  I must say these two books meet the expectations of being number one on the best seller list.  They read like a novel and are very hard to put down.
Hoping for some energy and good feelings tomorrow so I can get some house-hold duties done.  I don't even have my Halloween stuff out.  It's not looking good for the Christmas decorations, but let"s not go there yet.
Hoping to be back again tomorrow....

Saturday's Adventure

It was more like a trip or...mini vacation.  As six people piled into one car and drove and drove....drove.

We listened to sounds of "Are we almost there yet?" from Miss Riles.  "When are we going to get there?"

Words like "Mound Rd." and "Twenty Two Mile Rd." came into play.

"Are you sure we don't need our GPS?"

"Wow, it's taking a long time."  I must have mentioned this more than once because Karen said something like "Okay Mom."

"Wow, look at the stores and restaurants; they have everything here."

"This sure is different."  "Are we going up north."  "Well we could go to Imlay City, I just saw the sign."

"We are almost there." said papa.

"Do you remember the street?"  (me still thinking about the GPS)

"I remember this from last time."

"There sure are a lot of lights on this road."

"I know there is a big church somewhere."  "No, that is when we came the other way."

We arrive at Kevin and Audrey's house.....finally and we all pile out of the car and stretch our legs. Riles brings in all her American Girl doll stuff and we have jackets and extra clothes for Brady and dessert.

The east side is a whole other world; very unfamiliar but hopefully to become more familiar!  Thanks to Kevin for the grilled lamb and asparagus and Audrey for the great salad and homemade dressing.  Karen completed the meal with a homemade Amish chocolate chip angel food cake with chocolate sauce and strawberries. We had a fire in the fire pit after dinner while we looked at the full harvest moon; a lovely trip!

Maddie and Amelia on their dad's hammock
                                                                 Harvest moon
Sitting around the fire pit with glow-
                in-the-dark necklaces and bracelets.

God and One Person

In 1995 my friend Betty invited me to BSF.  It would take five years of her asking me until I finally went in the fall of 2000. I had been praying for new friends and a new church and God answered both of those prayers that year.
Several years later my sister Magnolia and her husband went to BSF.  And then during my seventh and last year at BSF, my daughter Karen came with me.  It was to be the last year that Sheila would be the teaching leader.  BSF was instrumental in bringing Karen back to God and her relationship with him grew.  She went on one more year. She brought Riley with her to the children's program and that girl loved it and loved to sing.  She loves God!
Five years later when Don retired he started BSF and last year he took Riley with him to the older children's program.  She is going this year also.  And she asked her daddy to go and he is going tonight!!!  We have been praying for her daddy to get saved for many years.  I always said Riley would be the one to bring him to God.  So if you read this, could you pray that the Lord would touch him tonight and that he would keep going because that is what Riley told papa; "I hope daddy comes every week!"
Is that cool or what?  He is an amazing God!  All because one person asked me to go to BSF!
